\nSmart materials\/responsive materials are materials that react independently to changing environmental conditions such as temperature. This reaction is reversible. The high-tech plastics of the THERMEO\u00ae family belong to this group of smart materials and are characterised by a unique patented thermomemory effect. In comparison with hard dental splints, inaccuracies during impression taking can therefore be compensated for with a THERMEO\u00ae splint. THERMEO\u00ae products can also be used to produce functional therapeutic bite splints. THERMEO\u00ae splints are characterised by a high level of wearing comfort and are self-adjusting due to the thermomemory effect. \nTHERMEO\u00ae meets the highest medical technology standards. For example, THERMEO\u00ae does not use phthalate-based plasticisers, but instead uses a patented flexibilisation technology that ensures unique biocompatibility in this material class. Compared to other suppliers, this results in a significantly higher pressure drop on the tooth after insertion of the splint (Fig. 1 and 2), which in turn increases the wearing comfort for the patient. The blanks are available in thicknesses of 16, 20 and 25 mm. This allows tooth-supported and also soft-tissue-supported splints to be efficiently manufactured. \nThe materials of the THERMEO\u00ae family, characterized by their exceptional wearing comfort, are developed for durability. The stability of the material was documented in an extensive chewing simulation study conducted by LMU Munich**. Despite the higher flexibility and higher resilience of THERMEO\u00ae compared to its competitors on the market, comparable wear values \u200b\u200bwere determined. This increases patient comfort without reducing the clinical benefit. In addition, amine compounds and MMA were avoided in the development of THERMEO\u00ae in order to reduce the yellowing of the material and the potential for irritation and sensitization.
